Domestic and Family Violence Resources

It is easy to think that Family Violence is something ‘out there’, but sadly for many it is ‘in here’. Perhaps God will give us opportunities to support and help people around us suffering this terrible situation. May the Lord help us to be great carers. Please talk to myself or Linda Thomson if you are needing support. Linda writes more and shares some other good resources:

As we’ve journeyed through Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, we’ve seen God’s word teach us that being unified as one body under Christ is his design and desire for us. This week as we ventured into Ephesians 5, we started to wrestle with the idea of submission.

The Bible teaches us that God’s love is peaceful, kind and just.

Despite our broken world too often engaging in sinful acts of violence and destruction, God does not delight in violence and he detests abuse (see Ps. 11).

Instead, he calls his people to love one another and to live in unity.

God’s character and his love are on display right throughout the Bible as he shows mercy, forgiveness and compassion alongside his judgement of sin.

Sending his own son, Jesus, to bring salvation and reconciliation is the ultimate display of love. Jesus came to bring peace, and reunite us to the Father through His Spirit.

God created us in his image so when we think about our status as image bearers, we can’t deny that we were designed to love as he loves us and we are to remember that our Lord Jesus came to facilitate peace. God’s love and the peace of Christ leave no room for abuse of any kind.
