How Fierce Is The Fight Around You?
Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord,
Last Sunday we sat under the sober warning of Ephesians 6. I concluded the sermon with these words. Can I encourage to reflect on them again? This is crucial for our spiritual maturity and health:
"It may not look like it
It may not feel like it
But you and I are at war
A spiritual war.
With only one winner.
Let me close with a question to each of us here this morning.
How fierce is the fight around you at present?
Is it hot?
Are you struggling with temptation, distraction or oppression?
Has the day of evil arrived for you?
Then Ephesians 6 would say to you… stand firm…
don’t give up… put on the Lord’s armour…
plead for His strength through constant prayer.
Ask your friends here to pray for you.
Redouble your determination to be strong in the Lord and
in his mighty power!
That’s if the battle is hot,
What if it’s not?
What if you’re drifting along just fine? No pressure,
no oppression, no attack?
What does that mean?
Could it be that you’re a low level threat to the devil at
present? Too lukewarm for him to worry about?
Have you lost your first love?
Look at the very last verse of Ephesians…
Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an
undying love. Ephesians 6:24
Is your love dying?
So that the devil couldn’t be bothered troubling you,
because he already has you where he wants you?
Neutralised.
Or, maybe he is waiting to really catch you out in your
complacency – with a huge attack just around the
corner, to lure you into grave sin, or unbelief?
Can I say to you… renew your resolve.
Be strong in the Lord and His mighty power!
Clothe yourself with His armour… be alert… renew your
prayer life.
Lean on Him anew!
Whether the battle is hot… or not…
Either way, the command is clear:
"put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil
comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you
have done everything, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13”

PS. Kid’s Holiday Club is going so well! Please continue to pray for the Spirit’s work in each kid’s life, that they would each turn to Jesus as their King and Saviour.
