Serious Gravity
Last year a lady at my previous church got ready to head off to church early as she was providing morning tea. When she got out to her car though, she found it had a flat tyre. She was faced with a choice. She could stay home and get someone to help her fix the tyre - surely the rest of the morning tea team would make do and would understand her circumstances. Or, she could find another way to get to church...
She called an Uber.
She got the driver to stop at the supermarket to buy ingredients for morning tea, then take her to church. It was a wonderful sacrificial decision, but let me add some extra details…
She is a single mum with teenage boys. She doesn’t have a lot of money, and the Uber was costly (so was providing morning tea). But there is more…
She had broken her leg! She was in a moon boot and on crutches. Despite all of that she chose to go and worship God and serve His people!
In Sunday’s sermon I talked about church being the place where heaven kisses earth. It is vitally important and should be our priority. God is gathering a people for Himself through the death and resurrection of Jesus. We have the privilege of meeting with God and hearing from Him through His word!
Church matters. It has serious gravity. See you this Sunday!
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10:24-25
