Church Beyond Sunday
I once heard a jazz musician say about his wife, “She always reminds me where 12 o’clock is.”
This man was not known for his ability to organise his calendar, but instead his fervour and emotional connection to people through music. His wife was his anchor in a space that was a challenge for him. The grounding that comes from a structured, organised life, perhaps.
This reminds me of the rich and beautiful relationships that fellowship among believers brings. Each person brings something special to add to the community, the body. These gifts are given to us to serve one another and bring glory to our Lord.
We most commonly think about church forming our Sunday routine with supplements such as Growth Group throughout the week, but did you know that half of our weekly services at DAC are not on a Sunday?
Dapto Anglican has three midweek services at three different locations, serving three different parts of our church family.
One of those services is Café Church, a fortnightly church service for women, by women. Café Church has been one of DAC’s midweek services for over 15 years, helping women to know and love Jesus through bible teaching, discipleship, worship and fellowship.
We also value the joy that Christian friendship brings. You’ll know Café Church is on by the sounds of laughter and fun coming from the hall! As well as the smell of coffee and morning tea awaiting us.
For some women, Sunday is not a viable option for many reasons – including family, work, or in some cases, we’ve seen women not able to participate in a mixed congregation.
Café Church is a safe place for women to come together to bring worship to our God.
Café Church meets fortnightly on Wednesdays during school terms, starting at 9:30am. Our next service is on the 20th of August.
Please pray for the Café Church team serving alongside me – Zoe, Bev, Wendy and Tay, as well as Amy and Kerrie (our musicians). Also, pray that more women will accept invitations to come along with a curiosity about Jesus.
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” - Hebrews 10:24-25
