Revealing Our Big Prayer!
It is time for the big reveal!
After a 5-month period of development and consultation, we’ve arrived at a prayer to embed in our hearts as our church prayer. I will share ‘Our Big Prayer' with you this Sunday.
What I love most about our prayer (and the goals that I will introduce to you in the following weeks) is how so many people contributed to its development.
That was the very thing that worried me the most as we embarked on this process. I was thinking, ‘how on earth will so many people come to a common mind?'
Yet we did!
Approximately 100 of you got directly involved.
Our Parish Council approved and endorsed the process.
Our Senior staff and a 15-person steering team ‘back and forthed’ – they wrote, critiqued and rewrote – until the wording was just right.
80 congregation members gave further feedback and provided heaps of ideas for actioning our goals.
And of course, many more of you prayed.
This really is ‘OUR’ prayer and goals.
A few of our steering team members commented:
"I was greatly encouraged by the faithfulness shown by everyone involved and how God has brought this prayer together.”
– Simon Webb
"I've been so encouraged to see our community gather around creating a picture of our future together under God.”
– Nikki Sullivan
“It’s been a humbling process, and I’ve seen God’s grace in the way the team and congregation have worked together constructively and with much love. I’m encouraged by what we can achieve together and excited to see how God continues to work through Dapto Anglican Church.”
- Timothy John
I’m so thankful to God for all of you. I’m excited to introduce and pray Our Big Prayer with you on Sunday. I’ll use the sermon to help us understand it.
See you then!
Grace and peace,
Mark
