Once There Were Cows…

Storytime brings the love of Jesus and the face of our church to the people of our community. I commend it to your prayers and encourage your involvement. Heather Boardman and Lorraine Miller write:

Once there were cows — now there is coffee, conversation, and community.

Three years ago, with a desire to connect with families in our growing area, a small team from Dapto Anglican Church began Storytime at Smiths Ln Dairy, a much-loved local café in Wongawilli.

At Storytime, parents, grandparents, and carers can order a coffee and relax beneath the fig trees with their little ones while enjoying stories, songs, interactive activities, and the company of others in a welcoming outdoor setting.

The program runs from 9:30–10:00am on four consecutive Wednesdays each school term, with special Easter and Christmas sessions where we share the true message of hope we have in Jesus.

To warmly acknowledge and welcome each child, we provide gift packs containing a simple DIY craft, along with information about DAC children’s programs and upcoming events.

We especially value the time before and after each session, as it gives us opportunities to get to know parents, carers, children, and the café crew personally — building genuine relationships and inviting people to connect more deeply through Dapto Anglican Church programs and events.

Storytime is now welcoming 35–40 families each session; as the program becomes increasingly recognised and trusted within the community, opportunities continue to grow for meaningful conversations and deeper connections with café staff, regular families, and those attending for the first time.

Storytime is a wonderful privilege — an opportunity to plant seeds of hope and faith, and to introduce many people to the good news of Jesus.

Grace and peace,
Mark
