Serving Others
For the past few weeks we’ve been exploring the marks of a healthy church. This week we are looking at serving others. A healthy church is an active church, where everyone uses their gifts to bless each another and the community. i.e. everyone has a Ministry.
My wife Susan explains:
Ministry is all about seeing God’s people mobilised and using their gifts to serve their Lord and one another in a joyful and sacrificial way. There is an often-repeated suggestion that 20% of people in our churches are doing 80% of the ministry. Imagine what God might do if we could, under Him, see the other 80% engage fully in the work? That’s what Ministry is all about! There are three main parts to developing ministry in a healthy church; identifying, equipping and releasing God’s people for works of service. Ephesians 4:16 expresses that we are the body of Christ, which grows and builds itself up in love as each part does its work. As we serve one another, both formally at church and informally in relationships, we worship and serve our God, to His glory.
Again, we’re all responsible to help each other serve, but Susan Boyley will take a particular responsibility to help us in this area. Yes, we have a new (unpaid) staff member!! Susan will be reporting to Linda Thomson. She is our Ministry Minister. Have a chat to her if you would like to explore ideas for serving further at DAC.
Grace and Peace,
Mark
