We are hosting Zoom workshops over the Spring School Holidays. The workshops will go for approx 1 hour and be limited to 7-8 participants per Zoom. You'll provide you with a list of what you'll need and you'll collect your own resources.

Ice Cream Slice

It's getting warmer, let's learn how to make Ice Cream Slice with Marianne Rietveld.

You will need:

  • Ice cream cake

  • 1 packet violet crumble or equivalent (100 grams)

  • 1 tin of sweetened condensed milk (400m)

  • 600ml cream

  • two packets of Arnotts malt o' milk biscuits

You'll need:

  • Garlic cloves or minced garlic

  • 3 cups of bakers flour or bread mix

  • ghee or butter for frying

  • mixer or bread maker with a dough hook

Coconut Raspberry Bread and Crunchy Lemon Muffins

It's time to bake something new! Join Janelle Jansen and learn some new baking skills.

What you'll need:

  • Self raising flour

  • White sugar

  • Milk

  • Butter

  • 2 eggs

  • Desiccated coconut

  • Vanilla

  • 400ml coconut milk

  • Frozen raspberries 

  • 1 large lemon

  • Plus:

  • 12 hole muffin try

  • Loaf tin (approx 10x20cm is ideal)

  • Cooking spray

  • Baking paper

  • Mixing bowls

  • Spoons

  • Grater or zester 

  • Juicer

  • Measuring cups

You'll need:

  • Have some ideas of inspiration e.g do you like coastal, farmhouse, industrial, modern. What colours do you like? What space do you have in mind?

Dumpling Making

One of our favourite foods and a great way to spend an evening! Learn to make your own dumping with Drewan and Ainsley Robinson.

You'll need:

  • FILLING

    • 1 1/2 cups green cabbage, very finely chopped

    • 1 tsp salt

    • 500g pork mince (fattier the better)

    • 1 cup garlic (or normal) chives, finely chopped

    • 1 garlic clove, crushed

    • 1 tsp ginger, grated

    • 1 tsp sesame oil

    • 1 tbsp cornflour

    • 2 tsp soy sauce

  • DIPPING SAUCE

    • Soy sauce

    • Rice wine vinegar

    • Sesame oil

    • Sweet soy sauce/kecap manis

  • EQUIPMENT

    • Bowl

    • Measuring cups/spoons

    • Rolling pin (if making dough)

    • Frypan with lid

  • GYOZA (wrappers)

    • Make or buy your wrappers

    • If you want to make them yourself, please make the dough at least 30 minutes before the workshop. It needs to rest. Follow this recipe. You will need:

      • Water

      • Plain flour

  • FOR FOLDING THE GYOZA

    • 1 tsp cornflour - for tray

    • 3 tbsp vegetable oil

Air Dry Clay Vase

This one is a little messy but great fun. Learn some basic pottery skills while you make a vase with Christine Lane.

You'll need:

  • A least 500g of Clay

  • Tools - now I think we'll get away with an old toothbrush and a few wooden skewers.

  • Newspaper or Scrap paper or cardboard to protect your table surface.

  • 2 small tubs, one for water and the other for slip/slurry. Recycled yogurt tubs would work well.

  • A sponge for smoothing.

Poi

Drewan Robinson is Teaching Poi. Poi involves swinging tethered weights through a variety of rhythmical and geometric patterns. 

You'll need:

  • Some long socks. If you don't have any, you could click and collect these socks from Big W.

  • Balloons

  • Rice
